Join the Choir!

Singing is a fun and joyful activity, and we’re going to be doing a lot of it this school year!

We are happy to announce that our choir program is growing at MAMS.  Last year saw the start of our Teen Choir, open to students aged 13 and up.  This year, we are adding a Junior Choir,  for students aged 7 – 12 who have an interest in singing.  We are also opening up our Teen Choir to any of our students’ parents or other young adults who would like to join (if the group grows enough we will split off to a Senior Choir next year).

Choir will be a great group for you to join if you love to sing but either don’t have time or are not ready for one on one voice lessons.  Our classes will not just be rehearsals for performances, but will be educational as well with our teachers – Mathew and Miss Anna – instructing students on things like proper breath support, good posture, and music theory basics.  If at any time a student wants to add on one on one lessons, we look forward to adding you to our roster!

Singing just for the joy of it is one of the greatest things you can do.  Singing in groups can encourage a real sense of belonging, open you up to making new friends, boost your confidence, and improve your social and communication skills.  Singing has also been shown to be a natural anti-depressant, a stress reliever, an immune system booster, and may even help to stave off the effects of Alzheimer’s disease!  So what are you waiting for??

Teen Choir meets Thursdays, starting October 4, from 7 – 7:45.  Junior Choir meets Fridays, starting October 5, from 5 – 5:45.  Tuition for each class is $28 per month. We are located at 517 New Brunswick Ave. in Fords, NJ.  We are diagonally across from Quick Chek, and share a parking lot with Seeman Chiropractic (the driveway is to the left of our building).  There is also street parking on New Brunswick Ave.

Get ready to rock out with Kidzrock and Rock bands!

One of the most exciting music programs in the country is coming to Miss Anna’s Music School.

Beginning July 11, Kidzrock rock bands will begin rehearsals, and we are looking for your preschool or elementary aged child to join us.

SAY WHAT?!

That’s right, Kidzrock is a rock based music program for children aged 4 – 8 years old.  All kids love music, but not everyone is ready for one on one lessons or the practice commitment that entails.  Kidzrock is the perfect setting for young students to learn music fundamentals and to be introduced to guitar, keyboard, and even the drums!

By the end of the summer – really, by the end of the first class – students will be playing and singing together as a band on rock songs written specifically for their age group.  At the end of August we will be performing to show off all our skills – and it’s going to be amazing!

Classes will meet on Wednesday nights, will be about 50 minutes long, and tuition is $80 per month.  We will be holding two trial classes on Sunday, June 24 at 2pm, and Wednesday June 27 at 5pm.  The trial class is $5 to attend.  To sign up for the trial class or to jump in already and get enrolled in Kidzrock, please visit our New Student Sign Up form.  Someone from our office will be in touch with you shortly!

 

ROCK BANDS

If you’re a little older and have already been playing or singing for a few years, you may be interested in joining a rock band.  Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays in July and August.  All guitarists, bassists, pianists, and singers are invited to join us.  Instrumentalists should already be comfortable with chords in the key of G and C, and singers should be confident with singing solo.  Students will learn a mixture of songs selected by our instructors and songs of their own choosing!  They’ll be preparing an exciting program for a performance at the end of August.

Classes will meet on Tuesday nights, will be about 50 minutes long, and tuition is $80 a month.  The class size will be limited, but we also can only have 2 – 3 guitarists or bassists, 1 – 2 keyboardists, and 1 – 2 singers per group to keep things balanced.  Please contact us for more information or to get signed up at missannasmusicschool@gmail.com

Guitar Programs at MAMS

Ready to pick up that guitar and rock out?  Our guitar class program is a fun way for kids to try out guitar in a fun, social setting.  It’s also a great way to try out guitar before committing to one on one lessons!  So what does MAMS have to offer?

Beginner Guitar, ages 7 – 13 – This class, on Saturdays from 11:45 – 12:25 is for beginners who’ve never played the guitar before. When they are ready, students can switch over to the Intermediate Elementary or Intermediate Teen class – even if it’s in the middle of the school year.  In this class students learn the basics of technique and posture, as well as music fundamentals like note names and values.

Intermediate Elementary, grades 3 – 6 – This class meets on Saturdays from 12:30 – 1:10 and is for elementary aged students who have at least one year’s experience on the guitar.  In addition to learning note reading and basic music theory, students will play together as a group in preparation for our end of year performance.

Intermediate Teen, grades 7 – 12 – This class is on Saturdays from 1:15 – 1:55 for teens who have one to two years’ experience on the guitar.  Students will learn music theory and note reading, plus chords and playing in smaller groups like trios or duets.

Students of all classes are expected to show up on time or even a little early to make sure that their guitars are in tune and they are set up.  All materials will be provided for students, and students will be invited to all performance and competition events alongside the studio’s one on one students, and of course to all of our fun studio activities throughout the year.

Tuition is $25 per student per month.

Classes are graciously held at one of the schools in Perth Amboy, but will be moving to a permanent home in Fords, NJ, at some point during the 2017-2018 school year.

PLEASE NOTE: The Intermediate Elementary and Intermediate Teen classes begin on Saturday, September 9, but the Beginner Class will start one week later on September 16.
